ACC Cuts Ribbon on West Location

Alvin Community College officially marked the opening of the new West location during a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22.

“We had a dream that we would be able to serve this side of our district,” said Dr. Robert J. Exley. “This is a momentous occasion in the life of Alvin Community College. We celebrate not just opening the building but the launch of a whole new chapter in our institution’s history. One that extends our mission, strengthens our reach, reaffirms our commitment to the students and the communities we serve.”

The goal of creating a location on the west side of the college district has long been a vision for the ACC Board of Regents who were excited to see the facility open.

“Our staff has done a phenomenal job to prepare this facility,” said ‘Bel Sanchez, chair of the board. “This is an exciting opportunity for the college.”

The 15,000 square-foot space located in Manvel features lab space for digital technology, biotechnology, allied health programs. It also contains a virtual reality arena, open collaboration space and state-of-the-art classrooms. The virtual arena is equipped to assist law enforcement students and officers with training exercises for different scenarios that they may face on the job.

Students attending classes at ACC West will also be able to meet virtually with academic advisors.

“This new location will be a great addition for ACC to provide education and training opportunities for our students while also meeting the needs of our industry partners,” said Dr. Stacy Ebert, vice president of Strategic Initiatives and Workforce Development.

The Board of Regents signed a lease agreement for the Manvel location in October 2023. ACC West will house new programs including EMS, Critical Care Paramedic, Corporate College, Patient Care Technician along with existing programs such as Biotechnology, Drafting and Design Engineering Technology and more.
